The 39th Paris Meeting on East Asian Linguistics

The Centre for Linguistic Research on East Asian (CRLAO) is pleased to announce that the 39th Paris Meeting on East Asian Linguistics (JLAO 39) will be held from June 17 to 18, 2026.
The conference will be organized in a hybrid format, allowing participants to attend either in person or online. In-person sessions will take place at the Centre des Colloques, Campus Condorcet, Place du Front populaire, 93322 Aubervilliers Cedex. Registered participants who choose to attend online will receive a live-streaming link prior to the conference.
Papers may address all sub-disciplines of linguistics applied to East Asian languages, whether modern or ancient, including in particular Sino-Tibetan, Kra-Dai, Hmong-Mien, Austronesian, Austroasiatic, Mongolic and Turkic languages, as well as Japonic and Koreanic languages. The relevant research areas include:
• Descriptive and comparative linguistics
• Historical linguistics
• Theoretical linguistics
• Field linguistics
• Typology
• Phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics
• Lexicology and lexicography
• Writing systems
• Dialectology
• Natural Language Processing (NLP)
Prospective speakers are invited to submit an anonymized abstract written in French, English, or Chinese, with a maximum length of 700 words, including examples and references.
Each presentation will be 20 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of discussion.
Abstracts must be submitted exclusively via the Sciencesconf platform.
